Hsuan Yu Pan is a documentary editor and story consultant based in New York City.
 

She works with filmmakers to shape character-driven and socially engaged documentary films, with a particular focus on immigrant, cross-cultural, and personal narratives. Her films have screened at national and international film festivals, and she previously worked as a segment producer at BRIC TV in Brooklyn.
 

Hsuan’s work as a documentary director deeply informs her approach to editing and consulting. Having guided her own long-term projects from development through post-production, she brings a director’s perspective to the cutting room—attentive to story structure, emotional clarity, and the ethical responsibilities of representation.
 

In addition to editing, Hsuan provides story consultation for documentary filmmakers at early and mid-stages of production. She supports directors in clarifying their film’s core questions, shaping narrative structure, and making confident editorial decisions while preserving each filmmaker’s voice.
